Well this weekend was rather fruitful, we chose not to go and look at dresses or rings, this weekend was all about getting down to the nitty and gritty!! An arduous task but nevertheless an important one!
So I sat down on Saturday night in front of the telly with my beloved and began probing - as you know this can be difficult getting anything out of Mr W, he has tendencies to switch off or go off into moments of rambles about other less important things like motorbikes!
I therefore cunningly placed a large bar of Dairy Milk Chocolate to encapsulate and tantalise his taste buds! It worked for a while that is until the bar ran out.............
Anyway as you may know Perth is the luscious destination for our forthcoming nuptials- a sunny and warm place, in fact roasting at times. But hey that does not put me off, in fact its comforting to know that the chance of raining on our special day will be minimal! (hope i haven't spoke to soon, quick where is the wood!)
Anyway yes so Perth is the place, in terms of venue, well that becomes rather complicated. We had toyed with the idea of a beautiful and romantic wedding on the beach (I know too much watching Baywatch). The sun pounding down and Mr W arriving on a white stallion, the gentle wind providing a nice breeze! (naturally i have been reading too many romantic novels at this point)
Whilst it sounded nice in theory.....the practicalities are another thing.........I ant imagine anything worse than walking in sand in high heels, the pelting sun meting my make -up, and killing my bouquet - naturally a bride does not want wilting flowers on her wedding day! The guests arriving and sitting on uncomfortable beach chairs and wind sweeping sand in their eyes ..mm you see when we thought about this plus Nana B would struggle to come out in the heat, so all in all whilst it was a nice idea, we have rejected it.
Our next option was having a ceremony at Wesley College where Mr W studied,,, a nice little chapel, with symbolism but some bad memories for Mr W so this is still a.....gray area ?.
The next obvious choice for the ceremony has to be in some pretty gardens somewhere, my ears prompt up when he suggested this..mmmm well I could get use to that, so off I went and started looking at venues that had nice gardens...this is the hard part, my search has not been as fruitful as expected, I stumbled upon Caversham House which has englishesque heritage features and stunning gardens ..well that is from what I can see from the pictures!
I began the calculations and contacted them only to find nothing was available on 31st March 2012 , the impending date! Bugger.. Mrs W had been kind enough to check some venues out for us so i must peruse these details in case there is something here.
To sum up what we want would be: romantic fairytale that has everyone smiling and laughing!
We will have 50 guests (based on this weekends estimate) the date is 31st March, we are thinking of a ceremony around 1/2pm then a fabulous reception from about 6.30 - 11pm. Ideally we would prefer to do our own catering and have buffet option but in WA things are slightly different. So a sit down meal may be an alternative though I struggle with the idea of this, for those of you who have been to Indian weddings, its all about having a good time, by that i mean a good boogie!! and food comes after!! Mind you I don't want you to think I would leave my guests starving, no sirree!!
So although we have a date in mind and guests on a list we are still no closer to booking a venue............
but stay in touch to see what enfolds over the next few weeks as I'm sure with all the Watson family help we will find something,,, who needs a wedding planner when I have such delightful support from within!!Until next time..... cheerio

Our first wedding show at the Landmark centre in Teddington
On a bright Sunday morning we trotted off to our first wedding show that was being held locally, we were not sure what to expect but we thought we would go and have a peek. For those of you who know the Landmark Centre is an audacious church which is used as an event centre- its stained glass windows and arched alcoves are simply stunning- the craftmanship in those days was truly amazing.
Outside the church were some old fashioned vintage cars and rolls royce, Mr W hurried along to get a closer view, 30 minutes later in a slight downpour I realised I must get inside, Grabbing Mr W by the hand, I whisked him inside, and we were just in time- the fashion show has begun, we watched from a side peeping throughin between peoples arms and heads to get a closer view. The bridesmaid dresses were delightful, and the models so cute indeed. I saw a few dresses on the catwalk I liked, most of them were rather big and lavish and somthing that I was adamant not to have!
After the show we began venturing around the stalls, Mr W was very pleased when I suggested we look at cake decorators- off we went and began speaking to various suppliers, Mr W sampling at this stage and very keen to try more. I had to snap him away before he was sick.
The afternoon continued to be interesting, we met some beautiful card suppliers who made handmade invitations - mind you we had had some made by a family member for our engagement and we felt hers were much better!
All in all, it was a good day and we got some ideas of what we liked and didnt like - for Mr W that was certianly no to fruit cake and yes to sponge and lots of it!
Photos above of what we say, the cakes are indeed moutwatering and come at a hefty price so we may need to prize ourselves away from them for now.! Enjoy!

The search begins for the Perfect Dress
It was a beautiful sunny morning on 26th Feb and I woke up with a warm smile with images of wedding dresses etched in my memory. I excitedly texted my good Friend Kavita to see if she was free to accompany me dress shopping!!
Our shopping trip began later that day just after lunch - we headed to Southall. in West London - the mini India as they call it to see what jewels we could find! Indian bridal shopping is a whole different experience and a rather lavish affair so I was sure that we would be blown away by what we would face that day.
The first boutique we visited was Santoshi's, beautifully decked out with gorgeous mannequin fully clothes in sumptuous fabrics and saris . We hurried upstairs to the bridal section to be greeted by a perfectly gorgeous lady who was decked out in the most amazing dress. She asked who was getting married and we giggled nervously while we told her what we were looking for - no reds i told her, anything gold or white is fine though. She pulled out some heavy brocade fabric behind her to look at - they were lovely, and I asked if I could try them on.
See pictures above, the first photo is from the first boutique we went to, it was a lovely skirt and I loved the detail but the top was too much. We went to another boutique after which had slightly toned down versions as you can see and much cheaper but again they didn't have that wow factor i was looking for.
The third boutique we visited was buzzy and very hot and everyone changing room was taken up with excited chattering brides eagerly trying on one dress after another, this boutique was called momans and I grabbed 2 off the rack to try, i got stuck in the first dress and had to call the assistant to help me out of it. The second dress was very blingy on top but lacked that extra specialness below, As we were leaving a dress caught my eye, i asked the sales assistant for information on it, it was riced at 1100, very lavish but he said they could tone it down for me, i liked the fact it came with a clear sheer bolero to cover my bat wing arms!! I'll think about it, i told the assistant, stealing a quick snap with m camera as we dashed off to the next shop.
All in all we must have visited at least 6 boutiques with only 3 having something i liked.
I took photos where I could as we were not supposed to and kept getting told off!
These photos are inspiration for my dream dress.... oh well the search will continue and I am sure to find my perfect dress.
